What is Meditation?
Meditation is a mindfulness practice to quieten the mind to get in touch with our Inner Spirit, or Higher Self. This requires a listening attitude and the invoking of the Inner Spirit for guidance. One technique to achieve this inner stillness is to focus on the breath, which allows the body and mind to relax. This gives the mind a task thereby avoiding the “monkey mind”.
How can Meditation help me?
Our Higher guidance can only come in the gap between our thoughts (Chopra, 2005). It is like trying to call someone on the telephone, but whilst the line (our mind) is busy, our call cannot get through. So it is with our thoughts – only when the mind is still, can we access this connection to our Inner Self. As we invoke our Inner Self for guidance, with a listening attitude, we are able to feel more peaceful, centred, positive, and self-confident, have better sleep, and be happier; also less stressed, anxious, worried, or fearful of the unknown.
I offer meditation classes for adults and guided meditation for children. It is highly beneficial for anyone wishing to have more self-confidence, more creativity, and live a happier, more fulfilling life.
